Proportional Relationships

| complex fraction | a fraction in which either the numerator or the denominator or both contain fractions |
| constant of proportionality | the constant ratio between two quantities in a proportional relationship |
| coordinate plane | a plane formed by the intersection of a horizontal number line (x- axis) and a vertical number line (y-axis) |
| equivalent ratios | ratios that name the same comparison |
| indirect measurement | the process of using similar figures and proportions to find a measure |
| origin | point on the coordinate plane where the x-axis and y-axis intersect (0,0) |
| percent of change | the amount stated as a percent that a number increases or decreases |
| principal | the initial amount pf money borrowed or saved |
| proportion | an equation that states that two ratios are equivalent |
| proportional relationship | a relationship between two quantities in which the ratio of one quantity to the other quantity is constant |
| scale | the ratio between two sets of measurements |
| simple interest | a fixed percent of the principal. It is found using the formula I=Prt, where P stands for the principal, r stands for the rate, and t stands for time. |
| unit rate | rate in which the second quantity in the comparison is one unit. (denominator of 1) |
