Vocabulary for transformations

TermDefinition
Translation To "slide" or move a shape
Rotation To "turn" a figure around a given point
Reflection To "flip" a figure in which it creates a mirror image
Transformation To move a shape/figure without changing its size or shape
Prime notation Used to identify an image or point ( ' )
Image The new figure or position after a transformation
Rigid Transformation A transformation that does not change in size or shape.
Dialation Transformation that changes the size of a figure but not its shape.
Congruence Have the same segment lengths, angle measures and shape.
Pre-Image The original figure before it goes through a transformation.
