| Analogy | comparison made between two things to show how they are alike in some way |
| Refrain | repeated word, phrase, line, group of lines |
| Couplet | two consecutive lines of poetry that rhyme |
| Rhythm | musical quality in language produced by reptition, length of line, rhyme, number of syllables, stressed and unstressed syllables and other poetic constructions |
| Diction | a writer or speakers choice of words |
| End rhyme | rhyming words that occur at the end of lines |
