|---|---|
| relations | a relationship between sets of values, the x-values and y-values of ordered pairs. The set of all x-values is called the domain, and the set of all y-values is called the range. |
| function | A special relationship where each input has a single output. It is often written as "f(x)" where x is the input value. |
| range | y-coordinates are the dependent values, which means that they are the range. |
| domain | y-coordinates are the dependent values, which means that they are the range. |
| interval notation | a way to describe continuous sets of real numbers by the numbers that bound them. |
| vertical line test | a visual way to determine if a curve is a graph of a function or not. A function can only have one output, y, for each unique input, x. |
| set builder notation | a mathematical notation for describing a set by enumerating its elements or stating the properties that its members must satisfy. |
