Term | Definition |
---|---|
Metals | Found on the far left of the periodic table |
Metalloids | Zig Zag line on the table, in the middle/right |
Non-Metals | Found on the far right of the periodic table |
Luster | Characteristic of metals and it means to shine |
Malleable | Characteristic of metals and it means to be able to be flattened without crumbling |
Ductile | Characteristic of metals and it means to be able to be drawn out into a thin wire. |
Semiconductor | Characteristic of metalloids and it means to conduct heat and electricity sometimes. |
Brittle | Characteristic of nonmetals and it means to crumble |
Dull | Characteristic of nonmetals and it means to have no luster |
Corrosive | Characteristic of metals, it is the ability to rust |
Melting | state of matter change, occurs when a solid goes to a liquid |
Boiling | state of matter change, occurs when a liquid goes to a gas. This occurs throughout the entire liquid. |
Evaporation | state of matter change, occurs when a liquid goes to a gas. This occurs on the surface of the liquid. |
Freezing | state of matter change, occurs when a liquid goes to a solid |
Condensation | state of matter change, occurs when a gas goes liquid |
Deposition | state of matter change, occurs when a gas goes to a solid |
Sublimation | state of matter change, occurs when a solid goes to a gas |
