| Electrical Service | The electrical components that are used to connect the serving utility to the premises wiring system |
| Raceway system | an enclosure that houses the conductors in an electrical system (such as fittings, boxes, and conduit). |
| Rough-in | The installation of the raceway system, wiring, or cable. |
| Trim-out | The installation and termination of devices and fixtures after rough-in. |
| On-the-job learning (OJL) | Job-related learning and apprentice acquires while working under the supervision of journey level workers. |
| Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) | The federal government agency established to ensure a safe and healthy environment in the workplace. |
| Residential electricians | Install nail-on device boxes, panel boards, and lighting fixtures in new houses. |
| Individual contractors | Electricians who are responsible for their own taxes and providing their own insurance. |
