Vocabulary for Topic A/B

TermDefinition
Rational Number A number that can be written as a fraction
Irrational Number A number that CANNOT be written as a fraction
Compare To examine the difference between numbers, values or quantities
Repeating Decimal A decimal in which a group of numbers is repeated indefinitely
Radical Expression An expression containing a radical symbol
Perfect Square A number made by squaring a whole number
Square Root of a number Value that when is multiplied by itself, gives you the number
Cube Root of a number A number that must be multiplied by itself 3 times to equal a given number
Terminating decimal Is a decimal that ends. A finite number of digits.
Bar notation A bar that is put over the repeating numbers, AFTER the decimal point.
