Vocab/Properties

Properties and their definitions

TermDefinition
Associative Property Groups can be changed when using multiplication and addition.
Cummutative Property The order can be changed when using multiplication and addition.
Identity Property The original number stays the same. For addition you use 0 and for multiplication you use 1.
Additive Inverse Property When you add the number and its inverse you get zero.
SMATO Subtact Means Add The Opposite. 5 - 3 = 5 + (-3)
OSSO The oposite of a sum is the sum of the opposites. Used to break apart fractions.
Distributive Property Multipy the outside number by each term inside the parenthesis.
Absolute Value Distance from zero and is always positive.
