Natural Numbers

TermDefinition
Odd A whole number which is not divisible by 2. When divided by 2 the answer has a remainder
Even A whole number that can be divided by 2 with no remainder
A Natural Number A positive whole number
Factor A number that divides exactly into that number, leaving no remainder
Highest common Factor (HCF) The biggest factor common to both products
Multiple A number we get when we multiply a given number by a whole number
Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) The smallest number common in both multiples of given numbers
Prime Number A number with exactly 2 different factors
Composite Number A number with more than 2 different factors
Twin Prime two prime numbers that have just 1 composite numbers between them
Assending Going up
Decending Going down
Product of Prime Factors when a numbers is divided down into prime numbers, multiplying them together will give back the number
Power the number of times you multiply the number by itself
Is Commutative the order in which 2 numbers are added or multiplied does not change the result
Is Associative when adding or multiplying the way in which the numbers are grouped does not change the result.
