Two Dimensional Figures Vocabulary

hexagon six sided shape
congruent same size, same shape
vertex point where two lines are joined
parallelogram a shape with TWO sets of parallel sides
quadrilateral a four sided shape
parallel lines line segments that never intersect
octagon eight sided shape
pentagon five sided shape
decagon ten sided shape
perpendicular lines line segments that intersect at right angles
polygon a closed figure with 3 or more sides
acute angle an angle between 0 and 90 degrees
right angle an angle that is exactly 90 degrees
obtuse angle an angle that is greater than 90 degrees, but less than 180 degrees
