TermDefinition
Commission A fee paid for services, usually a percentage of the total cost
Complex Fractions a fraction where the numerator, denominator, or both contain a fraction
Constant of Proportionality the ratio between two directly proportional quantities.
Discount to deduct from the usual cost of something
Markdown a reduction in price
Percent one part in every hundred
Percent Error an expression of the difference between a measured value and the known or accepted value
Principal The total amount of money borrowed (or invested), not including any interest or dividends.
Proportional Relationships is one in which two quantities vary directly with each other
Proportions a statement that two ratios are equal
Rate the ratio between two related quantities in different units
Ratios a relationship between two numbers indicating how many times the first number contains the second
Scale Drawings A drawing that shows a real object with accurate sizes reduced or enlarged by a certain amount
Scale Factor In two similar geometric figures, the ratio of their corresponding sides
Simple Interest determined by multiplying the daily interest rate by the principal by the number of days that elapse between payments
Unit Rates describes how many units of the first type of quantity corresponds to one unit of the second type of quantity
