Natural Numbers The set of all positive counting numbers (numbers on a number line); Starting with 1
Whole Numbers The set of all positive counting numbers starting with 0
Integers The set of whole numbers and their opposites (positive and negative)
Rational Numbers Numbers that can be written as fractions; Terminating decimals, repeating decimals, and perfect squares
Irrational Numbers Numbers that cannot be written as fractions; non-terminating decimals; non-repeating decimals and imperfect squares.
