EKG chapter 13

12-lead EKG

QuestionAnswer
Which of the following is not a step in 12 lead EKG interpretation check the patient for symptoms
if the QRS in leads 1 and AVF are both positive, the axis is normal
if the QRS in 1 and AVF at both negative the axis is indeterminate axis
if the QRS in the lead 1 is positive and the QRS in AVF is negative the axis is left axis deviation
if the QRS in 1 is negative and the QRS in AVF is positive the axis is Right axis deviation
normal axis is between 0 and +90 degrees
Indeterminate axis is between -90 and +- 180degrees
left axis deviation is between 0 and -90 degrees
right axis deviation is between +90 and +- 180degrees
Ventricular hypertrophy is excessive growth of ventricular myocardial tissue
left ventricular hypertrophy is most commonly caused by hypertension
right ventricular hypertrophy is most commonly caused by chronic lung disease
low voltage EKGs can be caused by ALL BUT which of the following hypertension
bundle branch block is characterized by QRS complex at least 0.12 seconds wide
right bundle branch block is characterized by RSR configuration in V1
hypercalcemia is a disorder in which there is too much ? in the bloodstream calcium
a disorder in which there is a deficit of calcium in the bloodstream is called hypocalcemia
a disorder in which there is too much potassium in the bloodstream is called Hyperkalemia
digitalis effect is characterized by sagging ST segments
a hallmark of hypercalcemia on the EKG is shortened ST segments
Tall pointy T waves are typical of Hyperkalemia
a very widened QRS is seen in severe hyperkalemia
which of the following is a criterion for a diagnosis of BBB QRS of 0.12 seconds or greater
in a hemiblock one of the fascicles of the left bundle branch is blocked
in LVH the S wave in V1 added to the R wave in V5 orV6 should be greater than 35mins
an axis of +120 degrees is right axis deviation
an axis of -120 degrees is indeterminate axis
RSR is the characteristic pattern seen in V1 in patients with RBBB
A QS pattern is V1 is characteristic of LBBB
