| criteria | the rules, standards, or tests you use to judge something, make a decision, or measure success |
| constraints | a rule, limit, or restriction that affects how you solve a problem or build a project |
| geologic process | an event or series of events that causes changes in the geosphere, such as flowing water or flowing lava |
| erosion | the geological process where natural forces wear away rocks and soil and move those pieces to new locations |
| plate boundary | the place where two plates meet |
| landform | a feature that forms on the surface of a planet, such as a mountain, channel, or sand dune |
| rock cycle | The continuous process of change in which new rocks are formed from old rock materials |
| geologist | a scientist who studies the solid Earth, including the rocks, minerals, and landforms |
| weathering | the natural process that breaks down or dissolves rocks and minerals into sediment (smaller pieces of rock) |
| cause | the why something happens. It is the action or event that occurs first |
| effect | what happens as a result of a a specific event/action (cause) |
| system | a set of interacting parts forming a complex whole |
| model | an object, diagram, or computer problem that helps us understand something by making it simpler or easier to see |
