Vocabulary words

Base The number being multiplied by itself.
Exponent Shows the number of times the base is multiplied by itself.
Coefficient A number that multiplies the variable. In front of the variable.
Power An expression that represents repeated multiplication.
Simplify The reduce the numerator and denominator to its smallest form.
Estimating To make an approximation or rough calculation. Based on rounding.
Reciproal Is the multiplicative inverse. When they are multiplied together they equal 1.
Expanded Form Writing a number according to its place value.
Scientific Notation Way to write large or small numbers using a number between 1 and 10 then multiplied by 10.
Exponential Notation Way to write small or large numbers with a lot of zeros.
