Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Decimal Point A point between a whole number a decimal fraction
Integer A positive number, a negative number or zero but not a fraction or decimal
Rounding To change a number to a more convenient value. Values 5 or larger go up and 4 or smaller get dropped.
Terminating A decimal the ends and does not go on forever.
Non-terminating A decimal that does not end and can go on forever.
Number line Line marked with numbers to show operations.
Negative numbers A number less than zero.
Positive numbers A number greater than zero.
Absolute value The distance an number is from zero on the number line. Is always positive.
Tenth position First digit to the right of the decimal point
Hundredth position The second number to the right of the decimal point.
