Algebra
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Equation | A mathematical statement containing an equal sign. |
Variable | A letter or symbol that represents a quantity. |
Expression | A mathematical statement that may contain variables, numbers, grouping symbols, and operators. |
Term | A part of an algebraic expression that may be a number, variable, or product of both. |
Coefficient | A number that multiplies a variable. |
Algebraic Expression | A variable expression that contains at least one variable. |
Solution | The answer to a problem. |
Commutative Property | Where changing the order of numbers, does not change the answer. |
Identity Property | When adding zero or multiplying by one, does not change the answer. |
Inverse Property | When opposites are added to equal zero or multiplied to equal one. |
