Heating of earth

In what form does the sun radiate energy? In coming solar radiation (short waves)
Define a wavelength. The difference between the crest of two waves
Why is the sky blue not black? It's blue because the airparticals are clean and they are reflecting blue
Why are sunsets characterized by a red glow? Because there's a lot of dust in the air making the sun look red but actually the sky is dirty
What is the Tropopause? This boundary is found between the troposphere and the stratosphere
How much of the sun's energy reaches the tropopause? 30%
Only 45% of insulation (short-wave radiation) reaches the earth surface. What happens to the remaining 55%? Gets absorbed or reflected back by clouds
Terrestrial radiation Radiates heat in the form of long waves
Conduction Is the transfer of heat energy form one air molecules to another
Convection Vertical transfer of heat energy by movement of the molecules
Advection Release of latent heat
