Math terms

random terms that my teacher gave me.

TermDefinition
Equation An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign
Equals Sign a mathematical symbol used to indicate equality. It looks like two parallel horizontal lines.
Variable A symbol for a number we dont know yet.
Solution an action or process of solving a problem.
Dependent variable a variable (often denoted by y ) whose value depends on that of another.
Independent variable a variable (often denoted by x ) whose variation does not depend on that of another.
Graph a diagram showing the relation between variable quantities
coordinate point a pair of numbers that define its exact location on a two-dimensional plane.
