Math Review Terms - 4th Grade

Product The answer of a multiplication problem
Quotient The answer of a division problem
Sum The answer of an addition problem
Difference The answer of a subtraction problem
elapsed time amount of time that has passed between two given times
expanded form a way to write numbers by showing the value of each digit. Example: 3,456 = 3,000+400+50+6
word form A way to write numbers by using words
standard form A way to write numbers by using the digits 0-9, with each digit having a place value.
factors The numbers used when multiplying
digit a symbol or letter that stands for a number
place value value represented by a digit in a number on the basis of its position in the number

common factors all the factors the numbers have that are the same
