What is the purpose of mindset training? The purpose of mindset training is to facilitate insight, raise awareness, enhance skills, and ultimately certify professionals in a system of preventing and managing aggressive behavior.

Take one of the four guiding principles and discuss how you can successfully apply it in your setting. Avoid Power Struggles by presenting oneself as a calm ally and assess body language, because sometimes 'human emotions can tip the scales in a negative direction.
List barriers to prevention and how you might respond to them. Physical barrier-safety checklist, students-promote choice and trust-be a role model, staff/teacher-train how to communicate and physically manage aggressive behavior
List three guidelines for successful crisis communication. Get in your CAR(Calm-Aware-Respectful), Create a one on one and Avoid advice or quick fixes.
What are the only three circumstances that justify physical restraint? Harm to self, harm to others and imminent harm to self or others.
What are three potential responses once a vertical containment technique is applied? Student deescalates, student goes to the floor or teacher guides or directs student to the floor
Why is it important to have the aggressors shoulders perpendicular to the floor? To not impair breathing and circulation
Name four safety guidelines when constraining horizontally. No direct pressure, monitor breathing and circulation, no single staff "take downs" and release when appropriate
What should you do if you observe physical distress during a restraint? Release immediately
