Where is the county government headquartered? The county seat, usually the most populated city
For purposes of local government, states are subdivided into what? smaller units called counties.
What was the original purpose of Georgia's counties? To determine what areas state legislators represented
What are the three main differences between city and county government? -Origin(cities created by charters, counties created by state constitution) -Services provided -Form of government
What specific purpose does a special-purpose government create? Public schools, MARTA, airport, and water/sewer systems
Special-purpose governments are funded by? loans or user fees
Local citizens have input on how much? revenue is collected and how it is spent
County and city officials hold public meetings where citizens can? listen to proposals of how fund are used, given their opinions, and watch the final vote.
What are the elected officials in county governments? Sheriff, Superior Court Clerk, Probate Court Judge, Tax Commissioner, Tax Commissioner, and County Commissioner/Board of Commissioners
We get state revenue (money) through for forms of what taxes? Sale Taxes, Federal Grants, Property Taxes, Special Taxes/Fees.
