Melt When a solid becomes a liquid
Freeze When a liquid becomes a solid
Condense When a gas turns into a liquid
Evaporate When a liquid turns into a gas
Gas The state of matter where the particles are moving independently of one another quickly.
Sublimate When a soild turns into a gas skipping the liquid state
Freezing Point The temperature at which a liquid turns into a solid
Boiling Point The temperature at which a liquid turns into a gas
Condensation Point The temperature at which a gas turns into a liquid
Melting Point The temperature at which a solid tuns into a liquid
Chemistry The study of the properties of matter and how matter changes.
Matter Anything that has mass and takes up space (has volume)
Element A pure substance that cannot be separated into simpler substances by physical or chemical means
Compound A pure substance made up of two or more elements that are chemically combined
Mixture A combination of two or more substances not chemically combined.
Solution A combination of two or more substances evenly mixed together where one is dissolved into the other.
Homogeneous A mixture with a uniform composition (looks like it is all one substance)
Heterogeneous A mixture with an uneven composition (looks like more than one substance mixed together)
Solid The stat of matter where the particles are close together and vibrate.
Crystal Solids with particles arranges in a 3D lattice shaped pattern.
Poymer Solids also called amorphous solids that have particles arranged in long strands or chains
Endothermic Reactions or changes that gain or increase in heat
Exothermic Reactions or changes that lose or decrease in heat
Chemical Property Characteristics of a substance that change the substance

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
