| mass | a measure of the amount of matter in a body |
| area | the amount of space inside the boundary of a flat (2-dimensional) object |
| volume | the amount of 3-dimensional space an object takes up. |
| length | how far from end to end. Or from one point to another |
| precision | smallest unit on measuring instrument or limit of reading |
| absolute error | the difference between the actual value and the measured value indicated by the instrument |
| relative error | calculated by dividing the precision by the actual measurement |
| standard form or scientific notation | used to write very large or very small number more conveniently |
| significant figures | used to specify the accuracy of a number |
| kilojoule | measures food energy |
| power | rate at which energy is generated or consumed |
| watt | is the SI unit of power |
| energy consumption | is the amount of energy consumed per unit of time |
