TermDefinition
Metals an element that is typically hard, shiny, malleable, and ductile (with good electrical and thermal conductivity) ; left side of the periodic table
Non-Metals an element that is typically soft and dull and not a good conductor of heat and electricity; right side of the periodic table
Metalloids an element that has some of the characteristics of metals and some of the characteristics of nonmetals; located between metals and non-metals along staircase line on the periodic table
Luster the state or quality of shining by reflecting light
Conductivity a measure of a material's ability to conduct an electric current
Malleability quality of something that can be shaped into something else without breaking
