| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| 1.Motion | A object's change in position relative to a reference point. |
| 2.Reference point | The earths surface is common reference point for determining motion. |
| 3.speed | The distance traveled divided by the time interval during which the motion occurred |
| 4.velocities | The speed of an object in a particular direction |
| 5. Acceleration | The rate at which velocity changes over time; an object accelerates it its speed, direction, or both change. |
| 6.Force | A push or pull exerted on an object in order to change the motion of the object; force has size and direction. |
| 7.Newton | The SI unit for force (symbol, N) |
| 8.Net force | The combination of all of the forces acting on a object |
| 9.Balanced forces | When the forces on a object produce net of O N the forces are balanced |
| 10.Unbalances forces | When the net on and object is not O N the forces on the object are unbalanced |
| 11.How do you know when something has moved ? | An object is in motion if its distance relative to another object is changing. To tell if an object is moving, you use a reference point. |
| 12.Energy | energy is the ability to do work. |
| 13. Potential energy | potential energy is any form of energy that has stored potential that can be put to future substances |
| 14. Kinetic Energy | kinetic energy is the energy in moving objects or mass Examples:mechanical energy |
| 15.Energy Transformation | Energy transformation, also known as energy conversion, is the process of changing energy from one form into another. |
