LINT 2019 Language Leader Unit 1 - prefixes

dis negative, opposite meaning | (e.g.-comfort, -like)
ex former, not the current one or not valid any more | (e.g. -baseball player, -boss, -president)
mis wrong | (e.g. -behave, -understand)
mono one | (e.g. -rail)
out more, better | (e.g. -perform, -run)
over too much or more than usual | (e.g. -confident, -shadowed)
re again | (e.g. -define, -do)
semi half | (e.g. -circle)
under less, less than normal | (e.g. -rated, -use)
antisocial adj- not sociable or wanting the company of others.
bicycle n- a vehicle consisting of two wheels held in a frame one behind the other, propelled by pedals and steered with handlebars attached to the front wheel.
bilingual adj- speaking 2 languages fluently
discomfort n- slight pain
dislike v- to feel distaste for or hostility towards | n- a feeling of distaste or hostility.
ex-baseball player n- former baseball player
ex-boss n- former boss
ex-president n- former president
ex-tycoon n- former tycoon
misbehave v- behave badly
misunderstand v- fail to interpret or understand (something) correctly.
misuse v- use (something) in the wrong way or for the wrong purpose.
monorail n- a railway in which the track consists of a single rail, typically elevated and with the trains suspended from it.
outperform v- perform better than.
outrun v- run or travel faster or further than.
overconfident adj- excessively confident.
overshadow v- be greater in significance than
redefine v- define again or differently.
redo v- do (something) again or differently.
rewrite v- write (something) again so as to alter or improve it.
semicircle n- a half of a circle or of its circumference.
underrated adj- underestimate the extent, value, or importance of (someone or something)
