What does trifle mean? Something that has little or no importance
What does homely mean? When something is un-attractive
What does pert mean? When someone is amusingly bold, or smart
What does surly mean? When someone is rude and unfriendly
What does coaxed mean? To persuade someone gently
What does languid mean? Lack of spirit and energy
What does tuppence mean? 2 pennies regarded as a monetary unit
What does mystified mean? To make something unclear and unable to understand
What does heathen mean? a term that deliberately insults someone about their way of life
What does spade mean? A digging tool that helps with removing things
What does shillings mean? Any of various former U.K coins worth one twentieth of a pound
What does obliged mean? to bind someone morally or legally
What does sarcastic mean? expressing or expressive of ridicule that wounds
What does rheumatics mean? Pains caused by rheumatism
What does pheasant mean? A large, male bird
What does obstinate mean? determined not to agree, opinion
What does imperious arrogant, domineering
What does exultantly mean? When you are joyful, and triumphant
