Why was the demand for Beef so high in the North east? Because they had relied on pork which caused many health problems and they wanted beef because it was a good meat food source and the south had plenty.
How did the Buffalo Soldiers influence Texas History? They were the first african American soldiers in the Army, they guarded Texas frontier they protected settlers as they moved west and helped army forts run smoothly
Why did cotton prices fall in the late 1800s? Because of worldwide trade caused worldwide competition (Africa), and Because of massive overproduction and tenant and sharecropping also fueled big supply.
How did mechanization influence farming? it allowed higher profit because more could be done with less people.
Why did the cowboy era end? Cattle started to decline as the leading industry and the open range was no longer there. Also more cities were made and urbanized the open range. Since cattle were harder to transport there were less cattle being transported and there wasn’t really a n

How did Barbed wire influence Texas? barbed wire influenced Texas by closing off the land that allowed cowboys to drive their cattle to slaughterhouse stopping the cattle drives kind of ended cattle drives
What cultures made up the cowboy population? 1/9 Hispanic 2/9 black and 6/9 white
Why did there need to be a change in the labor system? Slaves were used as the labor force, so the system needed to change because there was no more slaves.
What impact did the Telegraph have in America? It made long distance sales very easy, especially if you were shipping crops on trains.
What were Americans Doing after the Civil War and Reconstruction? southerners tried to boost their economy with cotton farming and cattle ranches.
Compare and contrast the XIT and King Ranch. King is largest privately owned ranch while XIT is the largest commerical ranch
How is the modern Rodeo different from those of the late 1800s? Rodeos back then were used as job interviews to find the best cowboys, but now they are just a form of entertainment.
