TermDefinition
substitution replacing pronumerals in an algebraic expression with numbers
speed a rate that compares the distance travelled to the time taken
speedometer measures the instantaneous speed of a vehicle
odometer measures the distance travelled by the vehicle
stopping distance the distance a vehicle travels from the time a driver sees an event occurring to the time the vehicle is brought to a stop.
reaction distance the distance travelled by the vehicle from the time the hazard first occurs to when the driver first stats breaking
equation a mathematical statement that says that two things are equal.
linear equation an equation where all the variables are raised to the power of 1
solving an equation the process of finding the unknown value for the variable
formula a mathematical relationship between two or more variables
subject of the formula when a formula has a pronumeral with no numbers on the left hand side of the equals sign
blood alcohol content a measure of the amount of alcohol in the blood
concentration a measure of how much of a given substance is mixed with another substance
