Parts of a Parabola

U2L1 Review

parabola The graph of a quadratic function
vertex The turning point of a parabola
axis of symmetry The vertical line that passes through the x-coordinate of the vertex and divides the parabola into 2 halves.
x= a number The axis of symmetry will always be in this form
x-intercepts The place or places where the graph crosses the x-axis.
Solutions or Roots The x-intercepts of the parabola
y-intercept The place where the parabola crosses the y-axis
maximum A description of the vertex when the graph opens down.
minimum A description of the vertex when the graph open up.
