THREE-FIELD CROP ROTATION Farming system that divided land into 3 parts leaving one fallow (not in use, resting)
PLOUGH A large tool used in farming for cutting, lifting, turning over the land

BOURGEOISIE Rich people who live in cities but are not part of the nobility
CHARTERS Documents that include the rights of a city
COUNCIL The government of a city
PARLIAMENT Government created by the king, formed by nobility, clergy and cities. They create laws and taxes.
POINTED ARCH An arch with a pointed top, characteristic of Gothic architecture
RIBBED VAULT The intersection of two to three barrel vaults
STAINED GLASS Coloured decorative windows in churches
PINNACLE A pointed tip in a building
SPIRE The top of a tower in the shape of a pyramid or cone
BUTTRESS A structure built next to a wall to support it
POLYCROMATED Painted with colours
