Reading a Textbook

QuestionAnswer
1. Before you read the book of the chapter, what should you preview? 1. Read and look and the front(title) and back of the book 2. look at the author and read about them 3. Read the intro of the book 4.Look at the table of context with the sub-context and see long each chapter will take to read. 5. Look at glossary 6.
2. Before you read the chapter, what should you survey? 1.Look at the name of chapter 2. Read the intro on it 3. Look at the heading to the subheading 4. Bold words 5. Summary 6.Questions 7.Images in the caption 8. Determine how long it takes to read the chapter
3. Method of the Title? KWL Method
4. In the paragraph, what should you look at? The first and last sentence of the paragraph
5. Research what on the Chapter? Before you read the chapter, you should research what the chapter of the title is about
6. Words in bold? Know them and write it down(look it up)
7. Where to put the questions? on the heading; you want to ask what the heading is about.
8. Second research? Research about the heading
9. Not question? If a heading has a question; you can use that one
10. Determine while reading? How long it will take to read the chapter
11. While your reading a passage from the heading, what should you do? Underline what you think will be the main point in the paragraph and put a question on(later, you would put it in the flashcard)
12. Each paragraph has what? Each paragraph has a topic and the rest are details that talks about the topic, and the last is a conclusion about the paragraph.
13. For each page you read, what should you do? Ouline it and do the next
14. Read what? Read each passage from the heading
15. If you read something in the passage is important, what should yo do? Underline it and put a question on it
16. After you read the chapter and outline it, whats the next step? Summarize what you read
17. The questions after the chapter? Do them and if you see the answers in the passage, underline them; you know that important and maybe on the test
18.Where should you put the questions you made from the chapter? Put it in the flashcards and notebook and practice them.
19. After you read the chapter, once you done with all the steps? Read the whole chapter again, so you can get an understanding of it
20. Whats the Homework you do? It's the written Homework, the questions from the back of the chapter
21. What does the teacher provide in class? Textbook reading and Homework that goes along with it(and the teacher will lecture about the chapter you read).
24. Who presents the book of the chapter? The Author
25. Each Paragraph has what? A topic and the rest are details about the main idea of the topic
26. Why does the organizational System help? It helps you understand the chapter and how it's organize
27. What does it show in the chapter? The breakdowns to it
28. What does the photo show in the text? The caption and help to understand what the chapter is about(the symbol to it)
29. For heading and sub-headings, what should you ask? Questions based on it
30. What does the Unit and Table of Context talk about? About the chapters and meanings
31. What should you prepare for while reading the chapters? The test or quiz
32.What should you pay attention to while reading? Reading and thinking about it
33. Device to help you know the words or the main idea from the passage you read? Mnemonics:Acronyms, flash cards, and quiz yourself

35. Where should you look at the words? Glossary or Dictionary

39. The things you do when reading a textbook? Outline each page, underline the ones you think that's important, make questions in a flashcard, and summarize the whole chapter
40. If your having trouble with a passage, what should you do? 1. Reread the passage again, but slowly 2. Seek help from the tutor like the teacher or tutor department
41. After your done with the flashcards, along with the note taking, what's next? Review your flashcards you made, along with the notes. Do a lot of repetitions on them to help retain the information.
42. Mnemonics device? 1. Flash cards, 2. ACRONYMS, and 3. test yourself
43. If your having trouble with a passage and you don't understand it, what should you do? Read it again until you get it; and if you can't get it, seek a tutor for help
44. What other sources you can look at based on the subject from the lectures and chapters of the book? Dictionary on the subject, online, regular books, t.v., etc
With the lectures and textbooks, that's if the teacher lectures about the chapter from the day you went (based on what you see on your syllabus), what should you do with the lecture notes and chapter? Compare them and mark the main point for each of them; we know that will be on the test(and put in the flashcards to help review later
For the flashcards you made from the lecture and textbook chapter that you got the main idea, what should you do? review them daily, so it will help retain the information to help get ready for the test.
While reading in your mind, what else helps while doing it? visualize what's going on in story or passage
You don't have to remember everything what you read, but what should you get at least? The Main Idea
While reading the passage, and instead of not rushing it, how should it be? Reading it slow, take your time, and break it down
The day before the lectures (that's what the teacher lecture on based on your syllabus), when should you read the chapters and take notes? The day before the lectures, so you'll have background information on the lectures that the teacher will lecture on the chapter
When to do the questions from the chapters? After the lectures
