Circles

Vocabulary about circles

TermDefinition
Circle a round plane figure whose boundary (the circumference) consists of points equidistant from a fixed point (the center)
Radius a straight line from the center to the circumference of a circle
Diameter a straight line passing from side to side through the center of a circle
Area The amount of space inside the boundary of a flat (2-dimensional) object such as a triangle or circle
Circumference the distance around the circle. It is the circle's perimeter.
pi the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter
Formula for area of a circle A=πr2
Formula for circumference of a circle C=2πr
Squared the result of multiplying a number by itself
