Section 1 light and Quantized Energy Vocab

Electromagnetic radiation.... is a form of energy that exhibits wqavelike behaviors as it travels through space.
Wavelength... is the shortest distance between equivalent points on a continuous wave
Frequency... the num of waves that pass a given point per second.
Amplitude... the waves height from the origin to a crest, or from the origin to a trough.
Electromagnetic Spectrum... radiation being their frequencies and wavelengths.
Quantum... the minimum amount of energy that can be gained or lost by an atom.
Planck's Constant a value of 6.62 6x10-34 J.s, where j is the symbol for the joule, the SI units of energy.
Photoelectric effect... emitted from a metal's surface when light of a certain frequency shines on the surface.
Photon.. is a particle of electromagnetic radiation with no mass that carries a quantum of energy.
Atomic Emission Spectrum of an element is the set of frequencies of the electromagnetic waves emitted by atoms
