| Term | Definition |

| Distributive Properties | The property that terms in an expression may be expanded in a particular way to form an equivalent expression. |
| Substitution | A person or thing acting or serving in place of another. |
| Term | A mathematical expression of the form like numbers or letters and x and y. |
| Variables | A quantity or function that may assume any given value or set of values. |
| Equivalent | Of two sets able to be placed in one-to-one correspondence. |
| Exponent | A symbol or number placed above and after another symbol or number to denote the power to which the latter is to be raised |
| Constant | A quantity assumed to be unchanged throughout a given discussion |
| Coefficient | a number or quantity placed (generally) before and multiplying another quantity, as 3 in the expression 3 x. |
| Factor | To express (a mathematical quantity) as a product of two or more quantities . |
| Quotient | A result of division; the number of times one quantity is contained in another. |
| Product | A substance obtained from another substance through chemical change. |
| Sum | The limit of the sequence of partial sums of a given infinite series. |
