Numeric and Algebraic Expressions
Term | Definition |

prime number | whole number greater than one with exactly two factors, 1 and itself |
composite number | whole number greater than one with two or more factors |
numerical expression | a mathematical expression phrase that consists of numbers and operational symbols |
base | the repeated factor of a number written in exponential form |
exponent | a number that shows how many times a base is used as a factor |
power | a number expressed using an exponent |
prime factorization | the number written as a product of prime factors |
greatest common factor | the greatest number that is a factor of all of the numbers |
order of operations | order of operations to perform in an expression |
variable | a letter or symbol that represents an unknown value |
algebraic expression | mathematical phrase containing variable, numbers and math operation symbols |
evaluate | find the value |
equivalent expressions | have the same value |
like terms | terms that have identical variable parts |
