Why did so many Germanic tribes begin invading the Roman Empire? To get away from the invading Huns who were attacking them.
What were important principle of Roman law? the right to freedom of speech,they were innocent until proven guilty
How did the splitting of the empire into two parts helped it survive for another 200 years? The wealthier half included most of the great cities and trading empires; while the smaller are was easier to defend.
Why might the Romans have felt threatened by Jesus? Because of his Preaching to the poor and powerless. They felt threat because of this popularity
Why do you think Roman leaders strongly opposed the rise of a new religion among their subjects/citizens? They thought Jesus was was thinking differently. The people would rebel rome. They were against his teaching. They feared his teaching would make the people to think differently.
Why did the early Christians face persecution from the Romans? Because they refused to worship the roman gods.
How was life of the patricians/wealthy and the life of the plebeians/poor during the Roman Empire? Rich people had city homes and country homes. Some had a villa that included running water. They used their money on making gardens and buying slaves and luxuries. They often had banquets that were hours long and included rare and expensive foods.
Explain the factors that contributed to the fall of the Roman Republic? Gap between patricians and plebeians. HIgh unemployment, people could not get a job. The plebeians could not get a job and the slaves took their job. High inflation. Laws were only made for the patricians.
What is Greco - Roman culture? An ancient culture that developed from a blending of Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman cultures
How were Jesus’ teachings at odds with Roman values and religious ideas? He taught love and acceptance rather than strength and power.Jesus taught MONOTHEISM teaching and politics taught POLYTHEISTIC teaching
