Geometry Unit 1

TermDefinition
Right Triangle A three-sided shape that has one right angle and two acute angles.
Right angle An angle that measures 90 degrees.
Acute Angle An angle whose measure is less than 90 degrees.
Obtuse Angle An angle whose measure is more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees.
Square A four-sided shape that has two sets of parallel sides, four equal sides, and four right angles.
Rectangle A four-sided shape that has two sets of parallel sides, opposing sides are the same length, and four right angles.
Trapezoid A four-sided shape that has one set of parallel sides.
Rhombus A four-sided shape that has two sets of parallel sides, four equal sides, and 2 acute and 2 obtuse angles
Kite A four-sided shape that no parallel sides
Perpendicular lines Lines that intersect at a 90 degree angle
Vertex The point where two line segments , lines, or two rays meet.
