How to find parts of a scale drawing

How to compare scales and what type of scale drawings they create The bigger the scale the bigger the drawing
What does the scale 1 to 12 describe? "1 part in the drawing is the same as 12 of the same parts in the actual" For ex: 1 inch in the drawing is 12 inches in the actual. OR 1 Grace in the drawing is 12 Graces in the actual. This means that the actual is 12 times BIGGER than the drawing.
What does the scale 1 in to 12 ft describe? "1 inch in the drawing is 12 ft in the actual"
