| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| arc length | The distance between the endpoints along an arc measured in linear units. |
| radian | A unit for measuring angles. 180° = π radians, and 360° = 2π radians. The number of radians in an angle equals the number of radii it takes to measure a circular arc described by that angle. 360° equals 2π radians because a complete circular arc has length equal to 2π times the radius. |
| central angle | An angle that intersects a circle in two points and has its vertex at the center of the circle. |
| radius | In a circle, any segment with endpoints that are the center of the circle and a point on the circle. |
| diameter | In a circle, a chord that passes through the center of the circle. |
