radical | An expression that uses a root, which can be a square root, cube root, and so on. |
radicand | The expression inside the radical symbol. the expression which is having its root taken, the argument of the radical. |
rational exponent | The use of rational numbers as exponents. A rational exponent represents both an integer exponent and an nth root. The root is found in the denominator and the integer exponent is found in the numerator. |
complex conjugate | Each of two complex numbers having their real parts identical and their imaginary parts of equal magnitude but opposite sign. The complex conjugate of a + bi is a – bi. |
