Vocabulary for FOCA_5.1

radical An expression that uses a root, which can be a square root, cube root, and so on.
radicand The expression inside the radical symbol. the expression which is having its root taken, the argument of the radical.
rational exponent The use of rational numbers as exponents. A rational exponent represents both an integer exponent and an nth root. The root is found in the denominator and the integer exponent is found in the numerator.
complex conjugate Each of two complex numbers having their real parts identical and their imaginary parts of equal magnitude but opposite sign. The complex conjugate of a + bi is a – bi.
