end behavior | The description of the behavior of the graph of the function at the "ends" of the x-axis. In other words, the end behavior of a function describes the trend of the graph if we look to the right end of the x-axis (as x approaches positive infinity) and to the left end of the x-axis (as x approaches negative infinity). |
odd/even degree | A kth degree polynomial, p(x), is said to have even degree if k is an even number and odd degree if k is an odd number. |
leading coefficient | The number written in front of the variable of a polynomial with the largest exponent. |
multiplicity (of a zero) | The number of factors x - k that appear when the polynomial is written in factored form. |
