vertex | For a vertical parabola, the lowest point if the parabola opens up and the highest point if the parabola opens down. For a horizontal parabola, the point farthest to the left if the parabola opens to the right and the point farthest to the right if the parabola opens to the left. |
axis of symmetry | The vertical or horizontal line through the vertex of a parabola. |
domain | The set of all first components (x-values) in the ordered pairs in a relation. |
range | The set of all second components (y-values) in the ordered pairs in a relation. |
maximum | The largest value of the function, either within a given range (the local or relative maximum) or on the entire domain of a function (the global or absolute maximum). |
minimum | The smallest value of the function, either within a given range (the local or relative minimum) or on the entire domain of a function (the global or absolute minimum). |
parabola | The graph of a second-degree (quadratic) equation in two variables. |
