Vocabulary for FOCA_3.2

TermDefinition
root A number k such that f(k) = 0 for the polynomial equation f(x).
zero The value k such that f(k) = 0 for the polynomial function f.
x-intercept A point where a graph intersects the x-axis.
solution Any replacement for the variable that makes the equation true.
quadratic formula A general formula used to solve any quadratic equation. x=(-b±√(b^2-4ac))/2a for polynomials in the form ax2 + bx + c = 0.
square root property If x^2 = k, then x = √k or x = -√k.
