Electric Circuit This needs at least a power source, a path for the electric current to flow, and a resistor such as a light bulb.
Series Circuit A circuit where the devices are connected one after the other. Electrons can only flow in one direction. If one device fails, the electricity stops flowing.
Parallel circuit A circuit that has multiple paths for electrons to flow. If one device fails, electricity can still flow through another path.
Electric current The flow of an electric charge through a conductor
Electric force The attraction between two electrically charged objects
Electrons The negatively charged particles in an atom
Conductor a material that electricity can flow through easily such as metal.
Insulator a material that electricity can not flow through easily such as rubber or plastic.
Load a device in a circuit that operates using electrical energy. An example of this is a lightbulb, motor, or radio.
Switch A device that is used to control the flow of current though a circuit. This device opens or closes the circuit.
Open circuit A circuit that is broken, and electricity will not flow.
Closed circuit A circuit that has a continuous path for electricity to flow.
Get dimmer When you add more bulbs to a series circuit, the bulbs ________.
