base edge The intersection of the lateral faces and bases in a solid figure.
altitude In a prism or cylinder, a segment perpendicular to the bases with an endpoint in each plane. In a pyramid and cone, the segment that has the vertex as one endpoint and is perpendicular to the base.
lateral area For prisms, pyramids, cylinders, and cones, the area of the faces of the figure not including the bases.
axis In a cylinder, the segment with endpoints that are centers of the bases. In a cone, the segment with endpoints that are the vertex and the center of the base.
