MRC Algebra
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Coefficients | The numbers before the pronumerals in an expression |
| Pronumerals | The 'letters' that represent variables in an expression |
| Factors | Number that can be multiplied together to form a number |
| Multiples | Numbers that result when a number is multiplied by whole numbers. Eg: The multiples of 3 are: 3,6,9,12..... |
| Distributive Law | Multiplying a number outside the bracket by every number or term inside the bracket to expand and expression |
| Highest Common Factor | The highest number that can be divided exactly into each of two or more numbers. Eg: 6 is the highest common factor of 12 and 18 |
| Like Terms | These are terms in an expression that have the same pro numeral and the same powers. |
| Algebraic Expression | An expression built up from integer constants, variables, and the algebraic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division |
| Integers | Positive or Negative whole numbers |
| Powers/Exponents | Another way of saying Index. These represent the number of times the base figure will be multiplied by itself |
