Quarter 3 Vocabulary

Hypotenuse In a triangle, the side opposite the right angle.
Pythagorean Theorem In a right triangle, The square of the length of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs.
Supplementary A pair of angles that add up to 180 degrees.
Triangle Sum Theorem The theorem that states that the measures of the angles in a right triangle add up to 180 degrees.
Transversal A line that intersects two or more lines.
Transformation A change in the size or position of a figure.
Similar Figures with the same shape but not necessarily the same size.
Scale Factor A ratio used to enlarge or reduce similar figures
Parallel Lines Lines in plane that do not intersect.
Congruent Two or more figures with the same shape and size.
