Surface Area, Volume, Composite Shapes

TermDefinition
Area The space inside the boundaries of a 2D shape
Volume The capacity. The space within a 3D shape. Often expressed in mL or L
Perimeter The continuous line around the outside of a figure
Circumference The perimeter of a circle
Pi An irrational number that expresses the ratio of a circles circumference to its diamter
Conversion The change from one form to another form
Total Surface Area The sum of the areas of all the outside faces of a 3D figure
Composite Shape A shape that is made of more than one 2D shape. For example a half circle placed on the top of a rectangle
Square Units The units for area
Cubic Units The units for volume
Sum Implies addition
